Ugh. Still no real update.
- I've been working on a website for my cousin. It's for A Ballad of America (a book that he and his father have just published a revised version of) and Folksong in the Classroom, a magazine about using folk songs as a teaching material that they publish.

- I didn't actually change anything, but my friend Chris Monti just released an album and I wanted to link to it somewhere.

- More stylesheet sillyness, most noticably on the front page, which is now supposed to look like it's being viewed in the text-based Lynx web browser.

- Changed all mailto links from jwgh@earthlink.net to web@jwgh.org, because I don't think I get enough spam. (NOT AN INVITATION TO SEND ME SPAM.)
- Added information on how to access the #kibology IRC channel.

7 December 2001
- Added some pictures I took when, at the beginning of December 2001, I returned to Maryland for some meetings and to see off one of my coworkers, who had given notice so he could go to grad school.

- Major site overhaul. I moved a bunch of stuff around, got rid of some items I thought were particularly mediocre, and added a bunch of new stuff. In particular:
- Made the Gas FAQ prettier and made some modifications to it.
- Added a new alt.religion.kibology section with 22 articles I've posted to a.r.k.
- Finally moved my Phoenix and Houston pictures from my mac.com homepage.
- Added some pictures of floorcloths I've made to the bottom of my art page.
- After a couple of people complained that my cookie recipe was too loosey-goosey, I created a more authoritarian version.
- Added a popcorn recipe.
- Added a Hall of Fame which lists stuff I've written that people have told me they've liked.
- Discovered that the alt.tech-support.recovery FAQ didn't seem to be online anywhere, so put up a version on my site.
- Added the following items to my tech support page:
- Added the following items to my talk.bizarre page:

- I put up a collection of X-Faces I've created.

- Added a song (?) entitled Send the Cheese to Me.
- Added a story based on some porn spam that was posted to talk.bizarre.
- Added a song entitled Anything You Like And Want, based on an ad for pornography that was posted to talk.bizarre.
- Ran all my pages through a validator and fixed a number of embarassing errors, some of which had been around for years. I will try to be better about this in the future. (The validator was the one built into BBEdit, by the way. iCab also caught a couple of things.)

- Created a new "trips" web page to keep track of the various trips that I've made over the past few years (to Russia, to Ireland, etc.). For now I'm leaving the existing parts of the site that deal with the trips where they are and am just linking to them; at some point this may change.
- Added links to pictures from my recent trip to Houston and Phoenix. For now the pictures are on pages automatically generated by homepage.mac.com; when I get a chance I'll put together a new section of my website
- Added some relevent links to one of Kludge's writings about FROST.BOB II because I felt like it.

- Moved to a new site. Woo!
- Fixed things so that people going to the old site are redirected to the new. If this doesn't work properly and you somehow still make your way to this web page let me know what URL you tried to go to and what happened and I'll try to fix it.
- Put up links to recordings of me singing and playing guitar again (Down in the Dumps, Big Road Blues, Milk Cow Blues).
- Found and removed some dead links.
- Added a story about pain.

Geez, it's been a while. Finally, a few new things.

- Corrected some factual errors in my Russia trip writings based on feedback from my friend Sarah. Thanks, Sarah! What did I get wrong?
- I said that the White House in Moscow housed the Duma; this is incorrect. It used to house the Supreme Soviet, but now it houses the prime minister and his cabinet. Here's the section the corrected information is in; it's towards the bottom of the section.
- I said that Volodia's great-aunt lived in a communal apartment to save expenses; the reality is more complicated than that. For more of the story, see the Peterhof section of the narrative.

- Finally! I wrote up my trip to Russia and scanned in some of the pictures I took there.
- I added a graphic of a sign I saw in Montclair, NJ to the main home page.
- I fixed an embarassing html error I discovered by accident. The search continues for more.
Sunday, August 8, 1999
- Added a song, Apocalypse Blues.
- Completely reorganized website:
- Recategorized my writings and did some minor reformatting on some of them, particularly the poems. (Some of them were marked up in a particularly hideous way. They still are, but in a different way. Anyone come up with a good system for marking up poetry using html?)
- Deleted CD collection and .sigs collection as they were too much trouble to maintain.
- Deleted map to Vietnamese restaurant in Manhattan as I no longer live in the area.
- Added link to existing Gas-Lovers FAQ from the main web page.
- Distributed newsgroup descriptions to places that seemed to make more sense. They may continue to move around as I rethink this.
- Restarted this webpage from scratch, as the old 'changes' document is now pretty irrelevent and all the documents it pointed to have moved anyways.
- And so on. Lots of changes.
